About me
Hi! I am Dr. Pragya. I completed my PhD in Music from the esteemed Bhatkhande University in Lucknow. I am also a certified Light Music Artist in All India Radio. I decided to work as a school teacher after that as I had the zeal to teach young children. I have spent around 20 years teaching in various reputed schools in Gurgaon (till 2020) before taking up this new endeavour to go on my own to teach music. Indian Classical Music is part of our heritage, and I take pride in educating the new generation. This will help us to carry forward our heritage to future generations. Looking forward to students who are willing to learn and excel in the field of Indian Classical Music. I am willing to go the extra mile to help students with the passion, will, grit and determination to carry forward this legacy. I will happily guide them on a complete music curriculum and help them achieve the same by teaching them the art of classical music step-by-step. I am open to any questions or thoughts you have on my teaching methodology and way forward. I am adept at using today's communication tools, like Teams, Zoom, etc., to conduct online classes and impart education in a friendly time zone.
What I teach
What I teach
As part of the Vocal Music class, I teach the students all about Hindustani Classical/Light Music. As part of these classes, I cover all aspects of Vocal music. We start with the basic knowledge of music, voice modulations, vocal range, pitch and tone of the students. I help them in learning breathing techniques. We start with the basic knowledge of Swaraa and Alankars. Then we teach about Taalas. This is followed by an introduction to Raagas, Aaroh, Avroh and Song Notations. Then we move to more advanced topics based on the ability and interests of the students. In light music classes, we pick a subset from the above and train the students on bhajans, folk songs and Bollywood music as per the learner's interest.
We also have the option to make the students learn the keyboard.
Additionally, for students who want to pursue music as a career, we also help students on pursuing Certifications from Prayag Sangit Samiti, Allahabad
